My name is Tatenda Maposa, I am a 26 year old male feminist, women’s rights advocate and the founding director at Girl Child Empowerment of Zimbabwe organization. I stay in Masvingo province in the Southern Part of Zimbabwe.
I am a bachelor’s degree holder in Development Studies with Great Zimbabwe University and perusing a master’s degree with Midlands state University In Gender and Social studies. As Girl Child Empowerment of Zimbabwe’s founding coordinator i have successfully managed to establish Girl Child Clubs across a number of tertiary institutions, primary and secondary schools in Zimbabwe. I have passion for women’s rights which are also human rights.
I am passionate and committed to expand the evidence based on the importance of addressing socio-cultural barriers including intimate partner violence, stigma and partner involvement- when striving to meet women’s demand for reproductive control and use of the family planning services targeting rural marginalized areas. As an organization we also leverage new evidence to inform the framing of national reproductive health/family planning policy, development assistance programs and cooperate social responsibility programs. We also advocate for quality provision of SRHR at community level and tertiary institutions.
Tatenda Maposa advocates and aims to expand the evidence based linking young girls and women’s social and economic empowerment to family planning and sexual and reproductive health rights. I have also advocated for the full strengthening of the connection between adolescents girls’ education and SRHR outcomes, including delayed marriage and childbearing. I have worked with a number of like-minded organizations in Zimbabwe and across the globe the mandate being to strategically position young girls and women.
